Update 22 Aug 2010: Added touch-screen support for pressing the on-screen remote-control buttons. Use the standard Nokia on-screen-joystick to control mouse. Tested on Nokia 5230.

What can it do? Why use it?

  • Wireless mouseSmoothly move your computer's mouse pointer from your phone's joystick. No need for laser-pointers pointing at your projector screen.

  • Media-player remoteMedia-Player control: Play, pause, stop, next, previous song/video.Video remote

  • Adjust volumeComputer Volume +, - or MUTE.

  • Intuitive and easyAll functions are uniquely integrated into one single command screen - so intuitive and easy that you don't have to look at the phone once you get used to the easy-to-remember command mapping.

  • FREE SOFTWARE - GNU GPL - It's gives you full freedom of usage/sharing, if you're a programmer you can also study/modify/share its code. Infinitely cheaper than buying a presentation remote-control equipment/hardware from office stores! If you already have a compatible phone and bluetooth on your computer/notebook, you can get much more with WMouseXP. Try it NOW!

How to setup and try it?

Most easy setup in 2 minutes.

  • Download WMouseXP from http://github.com/ykasidit/WMouseXP/archives/master.

  • Extract the ZIP archive to some folder on your PC.

  • Start your computer's Bluetooth. Make sure your PC's Bluetooth is plugged-in & started in the system-tray. (or if your Notebook has internal Bluetooth - start it using its assigned Fn+ bluetooth button or hardware bluetooth/wireless button)
Note: WMouseXP is compatible with PC Bluetooth running on Toshiba, BlueSoleil, Microsoft or Broadcom/WIDCOMM Blueooth Stacks/Drivers (ask your computer store about that).

  • Double-click Start_WMouseXP.bat

  • Press the "Send & Install on phone" button to send the Mobile-Side program to your mobile phone and install it there. (Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is ON and discoverable - "Show to all".)
Note: If send fails (Motorola U9, Nokia 6230, etc), then open your phone's WAP browser to wap.ClearEvo.com and download/install WMouseXP on your phone from there.
  • On your phone, start the Mobile-Side WMouseXP program, allow it to access Bluetooth until you see "Awaiting PC Side".
Note: On S60 2nd Ed phones , you MUST press the (left) soft key for "Yes" explicitly - because pressing the Joystick "in" would result in a default "No".
  • On your PC's WMouseXP, press the "Connect" button. Wait until the PC side automatically finds the mobile side on your phone, it would then connect and minimize itself - showing the "Wireless Control Active..." balloon.
DONE! Move your phone's joystick and see your PC's mouse cursor magically move on your PC - try double-clicking, opening and closing stuff on your computer from your phone
Test it - Open a Powerpoint or OpenOffice Presentation, press 3 on the phone to start the presentation, click/press the phone's joystick to go to the next step/slide, press 2 to go back, press 1 to exit.
For a WIFI version: please try AgilePresenter WIFI Remote.

Usage Scenarios

Bluetooth Presentation Remote Control
Walk around explaining your presentation on stage (or in meeting/class rooms), click the joystick of your phone to move on to the next step/slide of your presentation. Press "2" on the numpad to go to the previous one. With WMouseXP, you have wireless control of your powerpoint presentation in your hand!
Wireless Mobile Bluetooth Mouse
With WMouseXP, your mobile phone can be used as a wireless mouse: move the mouse, left click, right click - all using your phone's joystick. WMouseXP generates smooth cursor movement on PC, the cursor move speed increases as you hold the joystick down. When you have control of your mouse cursor, you have wireless control of your computer. What's better is that you don't have to use a clean surface/table like that of a real mouse. This mouse is entirely hand-held. You can use WMouseXP on your sofa, your bed, from your kitchen, virtually anywhere in the Bluetooth range - this is normally up to ten meters away!
Bluetooth Media Player Remote Control
With WMouseXP, your phone becomes the remote control of your PC-based entertainment system. Sit-back on your comfortable sofa or lay down on your bed while having full control of your Media Player from your phone - change the track, increase the volume, open your favorite movie, double click your phone's joystick to make it full-screen. Feel sleepy? Just move the cursor to your Window's "Start" button and shut-down the computer. Yes, that sounds nice. Just use WMouseXP to make all this happen. Bluetooth signals can even go through walls, so you can even change the song in your playlist or increase the volume while you're in the bathroom! (but don't get your phone wet!)

Hacking

Hacking is the process of achieving access to a computer or computer network without legal authorization. It is the most common activity amongst teenagers and young adults. Many hackers are keen to learn about computers and consider hacking as an art. They want to build programs to display their problem solving skills and not to harm others.
A hacker first tries their skills on easy targets and then after successful professional attacks on more secured sites. Their goal is to have complete access on any computer so that they can delete, edit or comply any files or directory and also can install any program.
HackingComputer hackers are employed by many companies to get complete access on the computer so that they can delete, edit, copy any file or install as their technical staff. These hackers use their skills to find faults in company’s security system so that it can be repaired quickly. Sometimes hacking also prevents serious identity related crimes.
It is an offence if hackers steal private information or changes some financial or personal data. All the types of unauthorized access can lead the hacker towards the prison for 20 years.
One way of hacking is to get a copy of password file which stores all usernames and password in encrypted form or they can also use brute-force attack trying all the possible combinations of letters. Hacking is also done by emailing a program to anyone that runs automatically when clicked on some link or attachment. In this way you can install a program on a computer that can give you access of that computer. Another method of hacking is IP spoofing. IP spoofing is the creation of internet protocol packets with the fake IP address in order to conceal the identity of the sender.
To protect your computer from hacking, you should install firewalls or other antivirus programs on the computer and also check for the updating of the machine at regula

Invisible Mouse

MIT students have created what is likely to be a device that can take the market by storm. The Invisible Mouse uses a combination of infrared camera and infrared laser in order to read hand gestures in order to control a computer. You basically put your hand on the table with the IR devices pointing at it, move your hand like you would move a mouse and it controls your cursor exactly how a normal mouse would. Although the technology is still in its infancy and it does require extra hardware that manufacturers are not including with their computers – It has the potential to eradicate the need for an extra peripheral.
Invisible MouseAlthough I have only seen it work on a laptop, it would be better suited to a desktop computer which is anchored to a desk. Because people have a tendency to use their laptop on their lap, finding a surface on which to place your hand may seem cumbersome. It also may be expensive for companies to insert the laser on both sides of the computer instead of just one (to cater for left and right handed users). So in that regard, the touch pad might be a better idea to keep built into the mouse. A good idea for desktop computers would be to build the laser and camera into the monitor. Many people have a tendency to put their towers on the floor.
Although the technology is relatively new; it is impressive nonetheless. It has applications far beyond that of controlling a cursor on screen. It could also have various military and gaming applications. It would also be good to help artificial intelligence in the field of robotics and software design. Although infrared technology has been around for some time, it is interesting to see people use it for new things.

Sony 3D Camera

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX9 and DSC-WX5 are touted as the smallest 3D cameras in the world (and they are also affordable). In the past, 3D cameras were only affordable by those in the film industry or contractors who have money to burn. This is now no longer the case. Although these cameras do not support video, they are an amazing advancement of the whole 3D technology industry. They are putting 3D in the hands of consumers. Although getting that perfect 3D shot is not promised as an easy task with these cameras; the ability to do so with an ordinary digital camera device is something that should not be scoffed at.
Sony 3D CameraOf course to take advantage of the 3D imagery that is shot via these cameras will require a 3D television. You also have the option of just shooting your shots with a 2D lens. The cameras have support for the various SD cards available on the market so storage will never be an issue. However, the real selling point for this camera is its capacity to shoot photos in 3D. Now you not only be able to support your memories with photos, but actually get close enough to full immersion in them to almost relive the moments!
Although 3D televisions are expensive, the technology to really utilize them is starting to catch up. It seems like 3D has made a massive jump from expensive fantasy into consumer reality overnight. The technology might have some kinks, but it is to be expected when anything new starts to take hold on the consumer market. I would be surprised if we don’t have affordable 3D video cameras available for consumer use in the next five years at the speed the industry is growing. However, having an affordable camera that takes 3D stills is something I never expected to see so suddenly.

Smart Phones

There are a wide variety of smart phones on the market. The Apple iPhone is up to its fourth incarnation and every mobile phone manufacturer has released at least one variant. The reason the innovation most impresses me is because of how useful they are. Many incorporate more features than a regular PDA and are essentially a hand held mobile computing device. Some of the features that are most impressive to me are things such as GPS navigation capabilities, 3D graphic acceleration, the capacity to read electronic books and on screen keyboards. All of these things coupled with 3G connectivity for mobile Internet browsing and operating systems that can run various other applications really make smart phone technology shine.
Smart PhonesMy first cell phone had a simple LCD screen that had two colors, much the same as a basic calculator. The screen size was tiny, it allowed for no more than two lines of text. Scrolling through phone numbers was a massive hassle. Many smart phones now offer fairly high screen resolutions and touch screen capabilities. This is on a screen that virtually takes up the complete area of the front of the phone. Many offer streaming video and video phone support. Smart phones are quickly becoming more advanced than a regular home phone (and in most cases are).
Because many companies who exclusively released computer components have entered the smart phone market, smart phone innovation is moving at a rapid pace. New features are being packed into a tiny handset and smart phones are becoming cheaper and cheaper. Many companies have moved their cell phone development processes strictly into the realm of smart phone development. Eventually you may have trouble finding a cell phone that only will allow you to make and receive calls on the go. This is not a bad thing.

Victor Multi-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap

Pet store mice can be a cute addition to the home. They can provide a child with responsibility and entertainment. Mice can also be bred to feed your pet snakes which could be considered gruesome to some but entertainment for others. These mice are clean and are bred in a controlled environment.
Victor Multi-Kill Electronic Mouse TrapBut what if you lie awake at night and hear scratching in your wall and awake to find bread crumbs lying on the floor and droppings lying about.  This is a nuisance and most likely will cause anxiety and paranoia in your household. These are wild uncontrolled rodents that carry disease and germs which can be very harmful to your health and your family’s health.
The Victor Multi-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap provides a solution to these pests and disease carriers in a very clean and easy to use package. Just bate the trap with bits of food that you think will attract your mice.  Then leave it alone over night. If the mice smell what you have left for them, they will make their way into the Victor Multi-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap and be sealed in. Once inside they will make their way to the bait which is place just ahead of three electrically charged plates. The plates will zap the mice just as an insect zapper does to those pesky insects outside.
Once the mouse is dead, the chamber inside will rotate and drop the dead mouse into a collection drawer and reset for its next kill. The mouse is then deposited into a collection bay below, ready for disposal. The collection tray holds up to 10 mice, so you can potentially rid your house of its pest problem within one night. The Victor Multi-Kill Electronic Mouse Trap requires 4 C batteries to operate which will kill around 150 mice if your problem is that great. The product sells for around 100 dollars.

The Apple iPad

by Ram on Jul.25, 2010, under Computer & Laptopgadgets
Tablet computers have been around for quite a while. They are a very specific niche market. The Apple iPad did not exactly break ground with the concept. However, they did break ground by having a massive array of applications readymade to utilize a tablet computer. As well as this, it was also able to handle 3G connections for roaming Internet virtually anywhere you can get a 3G signal (in later models). While it may be cheaper for someone to just buy a notebook – and give you some greater functionality – it may not be as user friendly or accessible for some people.
The Apple iPadThe Apple iPad has a very specific niche market. You are not required to be technologically savvy in order to use it. In fact, if you have an Apple iPhone or use a similar touch screen enabled phone then the learning curve in learning to use the Apple iPhone will be non-existent. The Apple iPad is a device that is better suited to people who need or want to use mobile computing as well as have the opportunity to use the Internet anywhere without hassle. A good example of how the Apple iPad can be a great mobile computing device is for people who have limited space to carry a notebook while traveling and still want to be connected to their email, various entertainment options and a machine in which they can use to work.
I am in the habit of using having a notebook sitting on my coffee table as I am watching television. If I ever want more information (or want to keep an eye on my email, shares or just fill the advertisement breaks with something fun or interesting) on something I can see, I have an Internet connection right in front of me to do so. This can also be considered a niche that the Apple iPad fulfils.
